Biography:
Nina Kogan has studied at the College of St.Ekaterina's Order, faculty of painting (1911-1913).
Together with Vera Ermolayeva, she has worked on creating the City Museum in Petrograd.
In 1919 she has received an assignment of the Art Department of NARCOMPROS (Commissariat of Education), moved to Vitebsk and taught at the School of Art. She has taught a propaedeutic course.
After Kazimir Malevich has come to Vitebsk (November 1919), N.Kogan has become one of the most paassionate adherents of Suprematism.
She< was a member of the UNOVIS (Affirmers of New Art) group. Together with K.Malevich and V.Ermolayeva, she was an active member of the creativity committee of UNOVIS.
She has planned and< staged the world's first Suprematism ballet.
From 1922-1923, on assignment of the Art Department of the NARCOMPROS, N.Kogan served as consultant of Museum of Art Culture in Moscow. She was a member of the museum Council, gave lectures and wrote reports about the modern art, developed a system of picture hanging.
In 1930s the artist has designed and illustrated children books.
Kogan has participated in exhibitions: Exhibition of Female Artists (Leningrad, 1038); Exhibition of the Work of Periphery Artists (Moscow, 1940); 7-th Exhibition of Leningrad Artist's Work (Leningrad, 1941).
