Kazimir Malevich has studied at the Drawing School, Kiev (1895-1896), MUZhVZ [Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture] (1904-1905), and the studio of Rerberg, Moscow (1905-1910).
From 1910 the artist has participated in exhibitions including Jack of Diamonds, Target, Donkey's Tail, Union of Youth, The Salon of Independents, Der Blaue Reiter, Tramway B, "O.1O".
He has designed the opera Victory over the Sun (libretto by Kruchionykh, music by Matiushin) and produced the first Suprematist sketches for the costumes and scenery (1913).
Malevich has created the first Suprematist paintings (1915) and theoretical works on contemporary art.
He has served as the head teacher at SVOMAS (1918), taught at the Art School in Vitebsk (1919-1920), and founded the UNOVIS group (Affirmers of New Art) in 1920.
He has taught at VKhUTEMAS (High State Artistic and Technical Workshops) from 1922. Served as director of GINKhUK (State Institute for Artistic Culture) in 1923-1927, and professor at the Academy of Arts from 1922.
Malevich has designed Mayakovsky's play Mistery Buff, directed by Meyerhold (1918).
He worked on designs for ceramics and architectural models (from 1923).
The artist has held the first one-man show in Moscow in 1919.
He has lived and died in Leningrad.
