The House of Matiushin museum in St.Petersburg (called also the St.Petersburg Museum of Avant-garde) has held an exhibition from December 20th 2010 till February 1st 2011 named "The Union of Youth" and "The new artists", for the occasion of 100 years to the founding of the Union of Youth movement. The works presented were the graphic art from the I.Yu. von Shtakelberg collection (the "New Artists" are a group of artists formed in the 1980s who declared themselves to be followers of the Union of Youth movement).

A newspaper was especially issued for the exhibition, with one side dedicated to the Union of Youth movement and the othe to "The New Artists" group.

The Union of Youth movement has existed in St.Petersburg from 1909 to 1914, was characterised by its open programme, which has brought variety to its exhibitions, with over 80 participants. Among those were the founders of the leading St.Peterstburg and Moscow artistic movements, such as M.Larionov, N.Goncharova, P.Filonov, M.Matiushin, K.Malevich, V.Tatlin. It was in the publication of the Union of Youth that V.Matvei (Vladimir Markov) has formulated the principles of pluralistic aesthetics of the Avant-garde, and has published his theory of "texture" as "noise" of the planetary living tissue (1914). He has promoted the "beauty of accidental combinations" and was among the first to discover ways to alogic creations of form and future Surrealism.

A wide spectrum of understanding the questions of new culture demonstrated by the seven Union of Youth exhibitions firmly bases it as corner stone in the structure of the Russian Avant-garde art of the 1910s.
